Pull Apart Savoury Muffins
Author: Nikki
Recipe type: Side Dishes
Ingredients
Dough
- 1½ cups of plain flour
- 1 teaspoon dried yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ⅔ cup lukewarm water
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
Savoury flavouring
- ½ cup melted non-dairy margarine
- Add savoury flavouring of your choice, for example crushed garlic with mixed herbs or chilli (pictured – I add 2 teaspoons)
Instructions
Dough
- Sift flour and salt into a bowl
- Stir the yeast into the water and set aside for a few minutes to foam
- Make a well in the centre of the flour and pour in yeast mixture and oil and combine
- Remove dough from bowl and knead on a lightly floured bench until smooth & elastic. (If it's too sticky knead in a little more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time)
- Place dough in a clean, lightly oiled bowl
- Cover with damp cloth and leave to rise until doubled in size in a warm place (once risen it can be kept in the fridge overnight if prepping early)
Adding flavours and baking
- Pre-heat oven to 180˚C & lightly grease (if needed) a 6 hollow muffin tray
- Stretch dough out & cut off pieces the size of your knuckle to the end of your thumb & let them fall into a large bowl
- Add melted margarine mixture & gently toss through to thoroughly coat
- Pulling the pieces apart, distribute evenly in muffin tray
- Bake to 20-25 minutes (Serve hot or cold)
Notes
These will gently pull apart at the seams & are a great to serve with anything you would usually serve garlic bread with.
